Serum FABP4, FGF21, Nesfatin-1 and the relationship between pregnancy insulin resistance in diabetic patients

Abstract：Objective To investigate the relationship between the fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4), fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), food intake inhibitor 1 (Nesfatin-1) and insulin resistance (IR) in patients with gestational diabe-tes mellitus (GDM).Methods Sixty GDM patients and thirty healthy cases were enrolled in this study.The serum levels of FABP4, FGF21, Nesfatin-1 and index of IR were measured and analyzed.Results GDM group serum FABP4, FGF21, Nes-fatin-1 levels were significantly higher[FABP4: (27.49 ±3.72) μg/L vs.(18.98 ±5.51) μg /L, t =2.585, P <0.05;FGF21 :(198.14 ±13.53) ng/L vs.(102.4 ±19.7) ng /L, t =2.137, P <0.05; Nesfatin-1: (2.49 ±0.72) μg/L vs. (1.98 ±0.51) μg /L, t =2.361, P <0.05〗.GDM patients HOMA-IR, HOMA-β, PGAUC, INSAUC /PGAUC, △I30 /△G30 levels were significantly higher ( HOMA-IR: 3.89 ±1.12 vs.2.05 ±0.54, t =2.362, P <0.05; HOMA-β:112.63 ±29.52 vs.169.72 ±42.14, t =2.809, P <0.05; PGAUC: 20.55 ±2.21 vs.13.98 ±1.66, t =2.697, P <0.05; INSAUC /PGAUC: 8.23 ±3.12 vs.10.92 ±2.91, t =2.133, P <0.05; △ I30 /△ G30:15.66 ±5.49 vs.22.12 ± 3.34, t =2.249, P <0.05).FABP4, FGF21, Nesfatin-1 was positively correlated with HOMA-IR ( r =0.402, 0.374, 0.398, P <0.05), and HOMA-βnegative correlation ( r =-0.435, -0.335, -0.376, P <0.05).Conclusion The ser-um levels of FABP4, FGF21, Nesfatin-1 were significantly increased in GDM patients, and there was a certain correlation be-tween and IR.
