Effects of periodontal basic therapy on blood glucose metabolism and serum biochemical indexes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with chronic periodontitis

Abstract：Objective To observe and analyze the effect of periodontal basic treatment on blood glucose metabolism and serum inflammatory parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with chronic periodontitis.Methods Selected from October 2013 and October 2015, in our hospital, 64 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus with chronic periodontitis patients were enrolled as the research object, according to the principle of random assignment, they were average into control group and observation group, 32 cases in each group.The control group patients only with routine baseline treatment, patients in the treatment group on the basis of conventional baseline treatment and with periodontal basic treatment.Three months after treatment, the indexes of blood glucose metabolism and serum biochemical indexes of changes were compared between the two groups of patients.Results (1) probing depth were significantly improved compared with before treatment of gingival sulcus after treatment in 2 groups, bleeding index ( observation group t =2.384,observation group t =15.189, P <0.05;control group t =13.448,control group t =7.096, P <0.05), and after treatment in the observation group of patients with gingival sulcus bleeding index, probing depth is improved more than the control group obviously ( t =11.453, t =10.991, P <0.05);(2) 2 groups of patients after treatment, fasting blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin were significantly im-proved compared with before treatment (observation group t =5.113,observation group t =5.666, P <0.05;control group t =2.722,control group t =2.167, P <0.05),and after treatment, the patients in the observation group fasting blood glu-cose and glycosylated hemoglobin group improved more obviously than in the control( t =3.874, t =2.363, P <0.05);(3)the 2 groups of patients after treatment of high sensitivity C reactive protein,tumor necrosis factor alpha were significantly improved compared with before treatment (observation group:t =7.339, t =4.760, P <0.05;control group:t =3.449, t =3.129, P <0.05), and the observation group after the treatment of high sensitivity C reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor alpha im-proved more significantly than the control group ( t =4.116, t =2.638, P <0.05).Conclusion To sum up, in type 2 dia-betes mellitus with chronic periodontitis patients in application of periodontal basic treatment method can significantly improve the patient's periodontal conditions, reduce periodontal inflammation, and blood glucose control of patients also have positive significance, so it can be to clinical work spreading.
