Investigation of the prevalence of hypertension and analysis of related influencing factors in Jianli County of Hubei province

Abstract：Objective To investigate the epidemical characteristics of hypertension and its related factors in Jianli County, Hubei Province.Methods From September 2013 to December 2013, in Department of Cardiology, the people's Hos-pital of Wuhan University, 1 758 participants older than 18 years of age ( living time >6 months) were selected using a ran-dom stratified sampling method from Jianli County to investigate the prevalence of hypertension and its related risk factors, and there were 890 males and 868 females enrolled.The epidemiological characteristics of hypertension were investigated by ques-tionnaire and physical examination, and the related influencing factors were analyzed.Results The morbidity of hypertension among the people in Jianli County was 23.4%(412/1 758), and women (24.1%, 209/868) was higher than men (22.8%, 203/890), awareness rate, treatment rate and control rate of hypertension respectively was 43.2%(178/412), 36.4%(178/412), 14.8%(61/412).With the increasing of age, the four rates of the hypertension also increased.And the four rates of female were higher than male.But the difference was not statistically significant( P >0.05).Of all the influences, age, monthly oil consumption, overweight or obesity, family history of hypertension and coronary heart disease are the independent risk factors for hypertension( P <0.05).Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension in Jianli County is higher than average level while the control rate is low.The health education and medication guidance related to hypertension should be strength-ened to reduce the incidence and improve the control rate of hypertension in jianli County.
