Abstract:Objective To investigate the influences of exenatide for postmenopausal patients with retinopathy of type -II diabetes and serum osteopontin level .Methods 50 postmenopausal women with type -II diabetes were enrolled in this stud-y.They were randomly divided into GLP-1 group (25 cases) and control group (25 cases). The GLP-1 group was treated with exenatide and metfomin for 16 weeks, while the control group was treated with single metfomin for 16 weeks. The change of relative clinical indicators and osteopontin level was observed and recorded .Results After 16 weeks, the overall efficiency (88.0%)in the GLP-1 group was significantly higher than that in the control group (32.0%).The level of FPG, FINS and HbA1c in the GLP-1 group were significantly lower than that in the control group [(8.76 ±2.97)mmol/L vs.(11.59 ±3.89) mmol/L,(6.66 ±3.81)mmol/L vs.(9.37 ±4.25) mmol/L,(4.89 ±2.98)% vs.(6.93 ±3.76)%] ( t =2.89, t =2.67, t =2.12; P =0.02, P =0.01, P =0.02), whereas there was no significant difference for the change of osteopontin level in two groups[(76.26 ±16.43) ng /ml vs.(75.83 ±18.83) ng/ml, t =0.48, P =0.57].Conclusion Exenatide can effectively reduce the level of FPG , FINS and HbA1c for postmenopausal women with retinopathy of type -II diabetes, but cannot obviously change the level of osteopontin .
