Influence of serum level of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer treated with peme-trexed and docetaxel

Abstract：Objective To explore the serum level of sICAM -1 and sVCAM-1 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer treated with pemetrexed and docetaxel .Methods 64 cases of patients with non-small cell lung cancer during the peri -od of September 2011 to September 2012 were selected, and were randomly divided into the pemetrexed group (32 cases) and docetaxel group (32 cases).All patients were treated with folic acid, vitamin B12, serotonin receptor antagonists at 7d before chemotherapy.Then patients of pemetrexed group were treated with pemetrexed disodium (500 mg/m 2 ) and cisplatin (80 mg/m2 ); patients of docetaxel group were treated with docetaxel (75 mg/m2 ) and cisplatin (80 mg/m2 ).During the period of treatment, patients should routinely receive the examination of liver function , kidney function, urine and electrocardiogram;and the clinical efficacy, the level of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1, adverse reactions and three-year survival rate were evaluated. Results There are no significant difference between pemetrexed group and docetaxel group (21.9% vs.18.8%,χ2 =0.410, P =0.522); The levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in pemetrexed group was significantly lower than that in docetaxel group ( t =3.803, t =24.356 P <0.01); The incidence of complications (grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ of leukopenia, grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ of ane-mia, Ⅰ-Ⅱ grade of alopecia) in pemetrexed group was significantly less than that of docetaxel group (χ2 =11.477, χ2 =6.505, χ2 =12.500, P =0.000, P =0.011, P =0.000); All patients were continuously followed up for 36 months, median follow-up time was 18.9 months.The three-years survival rate in pemetrexed group (42.1%) was slightly higher than that in docetaxel group (39.4%), but there were no statistical difference in two groups (χ2 =0.361, P =0.548).Conclusion Pemetrexed combined with cisplatin was not superior to that by docetaxel combined with cisplatin for treating lung cancer , but it can effectively delay metastasis and have a relatively small adverse effect .
