Serum levels of 25 hydroxy vitamin D3 in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy and its correlation with renal function and inflammatory factors

Abstract：Objective To investigate the correlation of serum 25 hydroxy vitamin D3[25-(OH) D3] and indices of renal function and high sensitive C reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) inflammatory factor in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy .Methods From August 2012 to December 2013 , 64 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into simple diabetic group ( A group, 22 cases ) and early diabetic nephropathy group (B group, 21 cases) and clinical diabetic nephropathy group (C group, 21 cases).Another 23 cases of healthy people were enrolled as the control group.Serum 25-(OH) D3, UAER, BUN, SCr, hs-CRP, TNF-α, IL-6 changes were compared, and correlation between serum 25-( OH) D3 and indices of renal function and inflammatory factor were analyzed .Results In diabetic patients , the serum 25-( OH) D3 was lower than healthy control group , UAER, BUN, SCr, hs-CRP, TNF-αand IL-6 were significantly higher than that of healthy control group , the differences were statistically significant ( P <0.05 and P <0.01).Compared with group A, group B and group C’s serum 25-(OH) D3 decreased significantly,SCr, BUN, hs-CRP, TNF-αand IL-6 were significantly increased ( P <0.05).Compared with group B, group C’s serum 25-(OH) D3 decreased significantly,SCr, BUN, hs-CRP, TNF-αand IL-6 were obviously higher ( P <0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that 25-(OH) D3 and UAER, BUN, SCr, hs-CRP, TNF-α, IL-6 showed a negative correlation ( r =-0.627, r =-0.698, r =-0.669, r =-0.694, r =-0.697, r =-0.702, all P <0.05).Conclusion Serum 25-(OH) D3 levels decreased in patients with diabetic nephropathy , and inflammatory factor was elevated, joint monitoring can be used as the early monitoring and severity evaluation indexes for diabetic nephropathy .
