Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of Bax protein in oral lichenplanus ( OLP) mucosa and the rela-tionship between the expression of plasma neuropeptide Y (NPY).Methods From 2011 March to 2013 October, 38 cases diagnosed of oral lichenplanus were enrolled as the observation group, 32 cases normal oral mucosa as the control group. The expression of Bax protein in oral mucosa tissues was detected by immunohistochemical staining, and the concentrations of NPY were determined by neuropeptide radioimmunoassay. Results Observation group’ s reticular oral lichen, erosive oral lichen’ s Bax protein positive rate and index were higher than those of the control group (χ2 =12.16,χ2 =22.29;t =8.71, t =15.38, P <0.01);erosive oral lichen’s Bax index higher than the reticular oral lichen type ( t =4.52, P <0.01).Reticular oral lichen, erosive oral lichen’s NPY concentrations were higher than those of control group ( t =4.91, t =7.46, P <0.01);erosive oral lichen type was higher than that of the reticular oral lichen type, the difference was statistically significant ( t =2.18, P <0.05).Conclusion Bax protein and NPY in OLP showed a high level and high concentrations of NPY can pro-mote the activation of T cells, Bax protein by activated T cells, causing cell apoptosis in OLP occurrence and development process.
