Abstract:Objective To compare the therapeutic effect and complications of vein phlebectomy and stripping opera-tion for treatment of varicose of great saphenous. Methods 88 patients with varicosis of great saphenous, according to the dif-ferent methods of treatment they were divided into the experimental group with 44 patients and were given intravenous phlebec-tomy,44 cases of the control group patients were given stripping operation. Days of lower extremity pain, swelling time, inci-sion time and the length of hospital stay, and postoperative complications and recurrence rate were observed in the two groups. Results The experimental group patients’ lower extremity pain time was (3. 1 ± 1. 0) d, the time of hospitalization was (7. 8 ± 2. 0) d and control group’s time of lower limb pain was (2. 9 ± 0. 9) d, the time of hospitalization was (8. 0 ± 2. 1) d, no significant differences were found between the two groups ( t =1. 784, t =1. 713, P =0. 084, P =0. 093). The num-ber of incision of the experimental group was (4. 0 ± 1. 0), swelling time was (4. 3 ± 1. 5) d, which was better than that of the control group’s (9. 0 ± 2. 3) and (11. 3 ± 2. 8) d, with significant differences ( t =2. 796, t =2. 814, P =0. 008, P =0. 007). In the experimental group, the ankle numbness (36. 36%), hematoma formation (38. 64%), mass of numbness and tingling at varicose vein (34. 09%) was significantly higher than that of the control group patients’ 13. 64%, 13. 64%, and 11. 36%, the difference was statistically significant (χ2 =12. 121,χ2 =12. 684,χ2 =12. 470, P =0. 004, P =0. 003, P = 0. 004). 1 years follow-up after operation, the recurrence rate in the experimental group (2. 27%) was significantly lower than the control group (27. 27%), with statistical significance (χ2 =11. 375, P =0. 004). Conclusion Saphenous vein varices with transvenous phlebectomy for treatment is better than that of the stripping operation with postoperative healing faster and low recurrence rate, but the vein phlebectomy postoperative complication is higher than stripping operation.
