Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect and adverse reaction of hepatic transcatheter arterial chemoemboli-zation ( TACE) combined with hyperthermia in the treatment of advanced primary liver cancer. Methods From 2010 June to 2013 July, 62 cases of primary liver cancer patients in stage III-IV were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group with 31 patients received TACE combined with hyperthermia treatment, the control group with 31 cases received TACE therapy alone. 1 years of follow-up after treatment, before and after treatment, tumor size, tumor index alpha fetal protein ( AFP) , Karnofsky score ( KPS) were recorded, and the patients' overall survival were observed and recor-ded. Results After the comprehensive treatment, the treatment group's tumor control rate was 67. 7%, and 38. 7% in the control group, the treatment group's tumor control rate was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P <0. 05). The treatment group's AFP from before treatment (178. 27 ± 21. 46) ng/ml decreased to after treatment (92. 88 ± 22. 06) ng/ml, control group AFP from before treatment (170. 32 ± 19. 38) ng/ml decreased to after treatment (163. 85 ± 20. 41) ng/ml, the treatment group's results better than that in control group ( P <0. 05). The treatment group's KPS score from before treatment (61. 67 ± 8. 57) points increased to (82. 22 ± 7. 32) points, the control group from before treatment of the (65. 38 ± 7. 92) points increased to (71. 89 ± 8. 14) points, the treatment group's results were better than that of control group, there was sig-nificant difference between the 2 groups ( P <0. 05). Treatment group's medium survival time was 10 months, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year's overall survival rates in the treatment group were 96. 8%, 87. 1%, 61. 3% and 41. 9%, the medium survival time was 8. 7 months in control group, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year's overall survival rates were 87. 1%,54. 8%,45. 2% and 29. 0%,the treatment group's overall survival was significantly better than the control group (P = 0. 006). Conclusion The TACE combined with hyperthermia in treating of advanced primary liver cancer is safe and effective,it can significantly reduce the tumor size, improve the quality of life and prolong the survival time.
