Protective effect of lamivudine with the preventive application on liver function in patients underwent breast cancer chemotherapy

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of lamivudine on liver function during chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer. Methods From 2013 March to 2014 September , a total of 100 cases of patients who were analyzed and diag-nosed with breast cancer were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 50 cases in each group , hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B virus DNA (HBV-DNA) were detected in all patients before chemotherapy , all pa-tients showed negative results. In the observation group , before chemotherapy , they were received prophylactic lamivudine treatment, the control group using standard chemotherapy. According to the WHO standard , liver toxicity reactions of all pa-tients were analyzed. Results After chemotherapy , TB and ALT, AST levels in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment( P <0.05, P <0.01),the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group ;[(20.3 ±7.4) μmol/L vs.(59.1 ±35.1) μmol/L, t =3.725, P =0.021;(60.1 ±20.8) U/L vs.(417.3 ±185.1) U/L, t =4.627, P <0.001;(372.6 ±94.7) U/L vs.(126.4 ±55.6) U/L, P =0.023];liver damage was significantly lower than that of control group (14.0%vs.42.0%,χ2 =2.934, P =0.032), and the liver damage were in level of 0-II, liver damage in control group was III-IV level,the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05);HBV-DNA quantitative ave-rage level in the observation group was significantly lower than that of control group [(0.21 ±0.01) ×109 copy/ml vs. (0.73 ±0.04) ×109 copy/ml, t =3.241, P =0.024],the positive rate of hepatitis B was significantly lower than the control group (4.0%vs.10.0%,χ2 =4.206, P <0.05).Conclusion Preventive application of lamivudine can significantly de-crease the liver damage after chemotherapy in breast cancer , reduce the severity of liver damage , reduce the positive rate of hepatitis B.
