Analysis of symptoms and intestinal microflora of severe functional constipation patients

Abstract:Objective To analyze the symptoms and patients with intestinal micro ecological condition in the severe functional constipation ( FC) .Methods From 2012 February to 2013 March, in China Japan Friendship Hospital Outpatient Department of internal medicine , diagnosed and treated of 77 patients with severe FC were enrolled , according to Bristol stool classification, they were divided into sticky sub group ( n =33) and dry hard stool sub group ( n =44), differences of the symptoms and the status of intestinal flora between the 2 groups of patients were compared .At the same time, 23 cases of healthy people as healthy control group were compared .Results The most painful symptoms of patients with sticky stools group were fail to defecate but with desire (39.39%), less bowel movements (18.19%), straining (12.12%); dry hard stools group were straining (29.55%), less bowel movements (25.00%), fail to defecate but with desire (20.45%).There was significant difference of the two groups in endless defecation feeling and assist defecation with hands ( P <0.05 ) . Bifidobacteria abnormal rate was significantly increased compared with the control group ( P <0 .01 ) , fungi and enterococci abnormal rate were significantly increased ( P <0.01).Compared with the dry hard stools group , the number of fungi of sticky groups increased ( P <0.05).Conclusion Sticky stools group and dry hard stools group have different symptoms .Se-vere functional constipation patients usually had abnormal intestinal microflora , with reducing probiotics , increased pathogenic bacteria;patients with sticky stools are more prone to have more pathogenic fungi .
