The effect of cognitive impairment on quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract：Objective To investgate the influence of cognitive impairment on quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus .Methods A total of 112 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were screened with MMSE and SF-36, there were 50 patients in the hypertension with cognitive impairment group (case group) and 62 patients in the hy-pertension without cognitive impairment group ( control group ) , and SF-36 score was compared between the above two groups . Results The physical functioning, role-physical, bodily pain, social functioning, mental health, role-emotional, vitality and general health in case group were significantly lower than those of control group ( P <0.01).Conclusion The quality of life of the type 2 diabetes mellitus elderly patients with cognitive impairment is worse .We should pay attention to cognitive impair-ment and conduct psychological regulation in order to decrease the cognitive impairment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the elde rly people.
