Abstract:Based on the disaster record and hourly precipitation data from meteorological stations along the Xizang Segment of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway from May to October between 2007 and 2019,this paper has studied the characteristics of main geological disasters and precipitation distribution along the railway. It is found that:(1)Main geological disasters along the Xizang Segment of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway were landslides and debris flows, with debris flows occuring in Shannan,Linzhi and Changdu, while landslides concentrating in the Linzhi and Changdu segments, which featured steep terrain and prolonged precipitation, predominantly during the main flood season in July and August(2)Precipitation along the Xizang Segment of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway mainly oc-cured between 22:00 and 06:00 in July and August, which should be avoided by the railway operation;(3)Extreme hourly precipitation thresholds along the Xizang Segment of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway were generally above 5mm except Bomi,Basu and Jiazha, among which Gongga and Lhasa have reached 7.8mm and 7.3mm,respective-ly.The railway operation needs to pay attention to the convective weather in Lhasa, central Shannan and eastern Changdu,as well as the impact of continuous precipitation in Linzhi, southern Changdu and eastern Shannan.
