Abstract:Alpine grasslands represent a typical ecosystem on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and play a crucial role in China's ecological security,as well as production and livelihood of local herders and farmers.Grassland desertifica-tion is one of the most severe ecological issues in this region.Current ecological restoration measures for alpine de-sertified grasslands often face challenges such as monotonous species composition and prolonged restoration peri-ods,hindering the effective recovery of their ecological and productive functions. Therefore, exploring efficient res-toration models and innovative technologies is essential for the ecological restoration of alpine desertified grass-lands.Based on the long-term research and practical experiences in ecological restoration of alpine desertified grass-lands conducted by our team, this paper proposes a composite management model using living oat sand barriers combined with grass and shrubs.Taking typical alpine desertified grasslands as the case study, the paper elaborates on three key aspects:selection of suitable plant varieties, technical innovation in oat sand barrier implementation,as well as functions and roles of oat sand barriers, thus providing scientific reference for the artificial restoration of al-pine desertified grasslands.
