Abstract:Soil acidification in China has become increasingly severe, with aluminum toxicity emerging as a prima-ry factor limiting crop growth.Addressing the limitations of traditional soil amendment, which are costly and prone to compaction, this study explored the ameliorative effect of plateau yak dung biochar on aluminum-stressed soil.A pot experiment was conducted under interactive treatment of different biochar application rate(0%,3%and 5%)and aluminum stress(4 mmol·L-¹).The results indicated that aluminum stress(Al)significantly inhibited the growth of Trifolium repens and reduced its biomass(P<0.05).Biochar application, particularly at 5%rate(5%BC+Al),effec-tively increased soil pH and improved soil structure, thereby significantly alleviating aluminum toxicity and promot-ing the recovery of Trifolium repens growth.Correlation analysis revealed that exchangeable aluminum was signifi-cantly negatively correlated with soil pH,root length and plant height(P<0.05),while root length and plant height exhibited a highly significant positive correlation(P<0.001).This study confirmed that the high-value utilization of yak dung from the Tibetan Plateau to produce biochar could mitigate aluminum toxicity by increasing soil pH and reducing exchangeable aluminum, offering an economically effective technical approach and theoretical basis for the remediation of acidic and aluminum-contaminated soil.
