Abstract:In this paper, the large-scale circulation background, meteorological elements and physical quantity fields of a radiation fog event at Milin Airport,Nyingchi were analyzed statistically by using ground observation and radiosonde data. The results showed that:(1)the upper-mid-level high-pressure ridge and weak-pressure ground trough were background circulation conditions forthe formation of radiation fog at Nyingchi Airport.(2)The radia-tion fog exhibited obvious diurnal change characteristics, whichunderwent three stages-formation,maintenance and dissipation, with the maintenance stage lasting significantly longer.(3)At 10:20,there appeared a notable breakpoint in the rising dominant trend of visibility.During the radiation fog, there were divergent flows and down-drafts in the mid-low troposphere of the airport.(4)The dominant visibility was significantly correlated with air tem-perature,temperature dew point difference, wind speed and relative humidity. When the air temperature was greater than 2.5℃,the temperature dew point difference exceeded 1℃,the wind speed surpassed 3m/s,and the relative hu-midity was less than 90%,the radiation fog began to dissipate.
