Abstract:Objective This paper introduces SCHOLIX,a framework for information exchange based on the cross-link information between literature and datasets, jointly proposed by Research Data Alliance(RDA)and World Data System(WDS).It explores the practices in promoting optimal linkage and integration of literature and data by pub-lishers,data centers and information service institutions faced with challenges including fragmentation and interopera-bility obstacles within existing exchange framework under the background of open data and open science develop-ment.Method This paper selected 19 literature sources from SCHOLIX to analyze its background, framework infra-structure,metadata information package schema and typical service application cases by literature review approach. Results SCHOLIX is a concise interoperable model for internet application, which can help various kinds of institu-tions to standardize the management and utilization of cross-link information between literature and datasets,pro-mote the development of information organizations and information service, and also bridge the gaps in the current academic communication models. In addition,SCHOLIX plays a critical role in the construction of Internet resourc-es,information service,as well as research data reuse and evaluation. Conclusion Resource system, identification system and exchange system constitute the core content of SCHOLIX.Although the resources and environment for large-scale integration and service of cross-link information between literature and data in China are not yet avail-able,the idea of SCHOLIX represents the direction of future development. In the"pre-SCHOLIX"era,establishing a technological framework should be a proactive measure we should take
