Research on the Impact Mechanism of Transportation Infrastructure Construction on the Coordinated Development of Regional Economy in Ethnic Regions

Abstract：Transportation infrastructure construction,as a fundamental industry for the development of national econ-omy and social undertakings,has a profound impact on the coordinated development of regional economy in ethnic areas.This study analyzed the panel data from eight ethnic provinces and regions from 2000 to 2023 to explore the impact of transportation infrastructure construction on their coordinated development of regional economy.The re-search results showed that the transportation infrastructure construction had significantly promoted the coordinated development of regional economy in ethnic areas.After conducting robustness tests,this conclusion still remained valid.Further analysis showed that there was a specific transmission mechanism in the transportation infrastructure construction to promote coordinated development of regional economy in ethnic areas by promoting industrial struc-ture upgrading and human capital growth,indicating that improving transportation conditions had not only directly supported economic development,but had also indirectly supported coordinated economic development by optimiz-ing industrial structure and enhancing human capital level.
