Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of non-valvular atrial fibrillation(NVAF)in patients of different genders in plateau regions. Methods The clinical data of 208 patients with newly diagnosed non-valvular atrial fibrillation(NVAF)at Xizang People's Hospital from January,2020 to December,2023 were retrospectively an-alyzed,comprising 120 males and 88 females.A comparative analysis was conducted on general clinical characteris-tics,biochemical indicators, cardiac color Doppler ultrasound findings, madication status and other relevant factors between the two groups. Results Compared to the male group, the female group exhibited significantly higher onset age, onset duration,CHA2DS2-VASc 60 scores and thyroid diseases incidence(P<0.05).Conversely,the female group exhibited significantly lower BMI,smoking and alcohol consumption rates, hyperuricemia hyperhomocystein-emia and persistent atrial fibrillation incidence,HGB,HCT,ALT,CRand LDL-C levels, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter measurements, antiplatelet drug use proportion, and number of patients aged<60 years compared to the male group(P<0.05).No significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of heart failure,cere-bral infarction, chronic mountain sickness and pulmonary hypertension incidence, left atrial diameter measurements or or anticoagulant drug use proportion(P>0.05).Conclusion The anticoagulant therapy proportion in patients with AF at high altitudes was significantly higher compared to the previous period.Chronic mountain sickness is a distinc-tive risk factor for non-valvular atrial fibrillation(NVAF)in plateau regions.Female patients tend to be older and more likely to suffer from thyroid diseases, while they are less prone to metabolic diseases such as hyperuricemia or hyperhomocysteinemia compared to male patients. There was no significant disparity observed in thrombosis or stroke risk between the two groups.
