Discussions on the Mechanism and Dietary Therapy Laws of Constipation in Tibetan Medicine Based on Data Mining

Abstract:Objective To analyze the mechanism of diet preferences for constipation in Tibetan medicine and provide corresponding clinical treatment of constipation.Methods After reviewing the suitable diet for constipation relief re-corded in more than 30 ancient books and literature mainly based on the Four Medical Tantras,statistical methods were used to screen out the favored diet of high-frequency and analysis were carried out on their six flavors,three na-tures,five sources and seventeen efficacy.Results Among the 120 kinds of suitable diets for the treatment of consti-pation,gray striped vegetables(27 times),salt(25 times),sesame oil(25 times),wine(23 times),and tender radish(23 times)appeared more frequently.The analysis showed that the flavor of sweet(15 times,75%)and sour(3 times,15%),the nature of coolness(9 times,45%)and warmth(9 times,45%),and the origin of earth(19 times,47.5%)and water(16 times,40%)appeared with the highest frequency in the popular diet for constipation treatment.While in terms of effect and efficacy,the focuses were mainly on its heaviness,flexibility,moisturizingness and bluntness,which act upon moistening the intestines,nourishing the body and dispelling the wind pathogen,named Long in Ti-betan medicince.Conclusion The mechanism of action of a diet suitable for constipation relief is highly related to the attribute of Long,which is the function of qi and blood.Therefore,the warm and hot foods were preferred for the constipation relief.Secondly,patients with constipation can properly nourish their bodies,and regularly have some sweet and oily foods to moisten the intestines for laxative effect.
