Abstract:Preoperative skin preparation(PSP)is an important way to prevent surgical site infection. This article re-views the basic principles, common methods(including physical and chemical methods)and the latest research prog-ress of PSP,and evaluates the clinical effects of different regimens.Traditional methods such as detergents and disin-fectants are still the mainstream, but there are some shortcomings.Emerging methods such as povidone-iodine appli-cators,endoscope disinfectants, and ultraviolet disinfection are emerging and have certain potential. In the future, the preoperative skin preparation protocol still needs to be continuously optimized to further reduce the risk of surgical site infection(SSI).
