Summary of best evidence for management of post-traumatic stress disorder after pediatric intensive care

Abstract:Objective:To retrieve,evaluate and integrate the relevant evidence for management of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)after pediatric intensive care unit(PICU),in order to provide a basis for clinical application.Methods:Using a combination of keywords and free words,computer searched for relevant evidence on the assessment and management of PTSD in PICU patients from domestic and foreign websites and databases.The study design included clinical decisions-making,guidelines,systematic reviews,Meta-analysis,expert consensus,evidence summary and RCT studies.The retrieval time was from the inception to July 29,2024.Two researchers independently screened the literature,extracted and summarized the evidence that met the quality standards.Results:A total of 11 articles were involved,including 3 guidelines,2 expert consensus,1 clinical decision,3 systematic reviews and 2 RCTs.A total of 21 pieces of evidence were summarized from 6 key aspects,including assessment objects,timing,tools,interventions,transitional care and personnel training.Conclusion:This study summarizes the best evidence for management of PTSD after PICU.It is recommended that medical staff apply the evidence reasonably according to clinical practice,so as to reduce the incidence of PTSD after PICU and improve the quality of life of children.
