Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of a nursing intervention program based on Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) on the health literacy, medication adherence, and self-management behavior of patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for myocardial infarction. Methods: A total of 157 patients who underwent PCI for myocardial infarction at Shandong University Qilu Hospital from June 2023 to December 2024 were randomly divided into an observation group (n=79) and a control group (n=78). The control group received routine nursing care, while the observation group received the CLT-based intervention program in addition to routine care. The scores of health literacy, medication adherence, and self-management behavior were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, the scores of health literacy, medication adherence, and self-management behavior in the observation group were all higher than those in the control group (all P<0.001). Conclusion: The nursing intervention based on CLT can effectively improve the health literacy, medication adherence, and self-management ability of patients after PCI.
