Bowel function management in patients after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer:a best evidence summary

Abstract:Objective:To summarize the best evidence for bowel function management in patients after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer,in order to provide evidence-based support for clinical nursing practice.Methods:Literature on bowel function management after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer was retrieved domestically and internationally from relevant guideline websites,evidence-based databases,association websites,and original literature databases.The search period was from database inception to January 31,2025.The quality assessment tool of the Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)in Australia was used to evaluate the quality of the literature.Evidence was extracted and summarized from the included literature.Results:A total of 16 articles were included,including 3 expert consensus/opinions,1 systematic review,10 randomized controlled trials(RCTs),and 2 quasi-experimental studies.A total of 16 pieces of best evidence were formed,covering 5 aspects:basic requirements for bowel function management,intervention assessment,intervention methods,precautions,and health education.Conclusions:This study summarized the best evidence for bowel function management in patients after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer.Nursing staff should transform and apply the best evidence according to actual clinical practice to improve patients'bowel function and enhance the quality of clinical nursing care.
