Abstract:Objective:To retrieve, evaluate, and integrate the best evidence for improving the standardization of clean intermittent catheterization(CIC)in children and to construct a standardized clinical pathway for CIC in children. Methods:Following the"6S"evidence pyramid model, relevant literature on the management of CIC in children was retrieved systematically from computerize decision support systems, domestic and international guideline websites, relevant academic society websites, and databases, including clinical decision support, guidelines, systematic reviews, evidence summaries, and expert consensus. The search period was from March 2019 to March 2024.Four researchers independently assessed the quality of the included literature and extracted evidence based on their professional judgment. Results:A total of 9 articles were included, including 1 guideline,6 evidence summaries, and 2 expert consensus reports.A total of 29 pieces of evidence were summarized from 8 aspects:catheterization timing, catheterization frequency, catheter selection, lubricant selection, cleaning techniques, urinary tract infection prevention, patient training, and health education. Conclusions:The summarized best evidence regarding the standardization of CIC in children can provide evidence-based guidance for clinical nursing staff. It is recommended that nursing staff use evidence based on clinical situations to improve the standardization of CIC in children.
