Abstract:Objective:To systematically evaluate the intensive care unit(ICU)diaries experiences of critically ill patients and their families, and to provide references for optimizing critical care nursing in clinical practice. Methods:Qualitative studies on the cognition of ICU diaries among critically ill patients and their families were retrieved from PubMed,Web of Science,CINAHL,EMbase,Cochrane Library,Scopus,CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,and CBM.The search period was from the establishment of the database to May 31,2024.The Quality evaluation Criteria for Qualitative Research of the Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence-Based Health Care Centre in Australia(2016 Edition)were adopted to evaluate the quality of the literature, and the pooling integration method was adopted to integrate the results. Results:A total of 21 articles were included, and 9 themes were extracted(5 from the perspective of patients and 4 from the perspective of family members). The patient's perspective included obtaining disease information, emotional release, enhancing connection with relatives, understanding and growth of the disease, and diary format. The perspective of family members included emotional support, healing and grief support, understanding of the condition, and writing pressure. Conclusion:Existing evidence indicates that ICU diaries can meet the information needs of patients and their families, provide emotional support, and improve mental health. It is recommended to develop localized intervention plans in combination with China's national conditions.
