Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the effects of early oral hydration program in postoperative cardiac surgery patients. Methods:Interventional studies on the impact of early oral hydration program in postoperative cardiac surgery patients was systematically retrieved from CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,SinoMed,Cochrane Library,PubMed,EMbase, and CINAHL.The search period was from the inception of the database to September 30,2024.Two researchers independently performed literature screening, quality assessment, and data extraction.A Meta-analysis of the included articles was performed using RevMan 5.3 and Stata 15 software. Results:A total of 6 articles were included, involving 2 219 patients.Meta-analysis results showed that compared with conventional intervention, early oral hydration program can reduce thirst levels in patients undergoing cardiac surgery(SMD=-2.09,95%CI-3.75--0.44,Z=2.49,P=0.01).Conclusions:Current evidence suggests that early oral hydration program can help alleviate postoperative thirst and improve patients'satisfaction without increasing adverse events caused by oral water intake.Limited by the quality and number of included studies and heterogeneity of results, more high-quality studies are needed to further validate the effects of early oral hydration program on patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
