Abstract:Objective:To compare the efficacy of nasal irrigation with different concentrations of saline in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis after endoscopic surgery using a network Meta-analysis.Methods:Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of nasal irrigation with different concentrations of saline after endoscopic surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis were retrieved from databases in China and abroad. The search period was from the inception of databases to March 1,2024.Two researchers independently screened the studies, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias of the included studies.A network Meta-analysis was then performed using Stata 17.0 software. Results:A total of 24 studies, involving 2 396 patients. The network Meta-analysis showed that hypertonic saline nasal irrigation was superior to normal saline or no irrigation in terms of overall clinical response rate, pain visual analogue scale(VAS)score, surgical cavity epithelialization time, and mucociliary clearance rate. Conclusions:The existing evidence suggests that saline irrigation is superior to no irrigation, and hypertonic saline irrigation is superior to normal saline irrigation in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis after endoscopic sinus surgery.Limited by the number and quality of included studies, these conclusions require further high-quality studies to verify.
