Qualitative research on the disease experience of breast cancer related lymphedema patients:a Meta-synthesis

Abstract:Objective:To systematically evaluate and integrate related studies on the experience of breast cancer related lymphedema patients,so as to provide a reference for nursing staff to formulate targeted nursing measures.Methods:PubMed,CINAHL,Cochrane Library,EMbase,Web of Science,ScienceDirect,CBM,CNKI,WanFang Data and VIP were searched for relevant qualitative studies.The search time was from the inception of the database to September 9,2024.The Australian Joanna Briggs Institute Health Care Center Qualitative Research Evaluation Criteria(2016)was used to evaluate the literature,and the results were integrated by the collection integration method.Results:A total of 15 articles were included and 63 findings were extracted,which were summarized into 9 new categories and integrated into 2 results.That is,the positive experiences of BCRL(urgent need to meet basic needs,awareness of serious consequences,benign transformation,social influence and support)and the negative experience of BCRL(lack of resources to regulate self-management,deprivation of self-value,new loneliness,internal stigma,subjective and objective conditions).Conclusions:The positive and negative experiences of BCRL patients are complex.This study could provide reference and basis for nursing staff to formulate targeted nursing plans thereby facilitating healthcare providers to provide better guidance and services for patients.
