Construction and application of a quality evaluation index system for indwelling catheter care in postoperative urological patients based on nursing quality improvement goals

Abstract：Objective:To establish a evaluation system for indwelling catheter in postoperative urological patients based on nursing quality improvement objectives and to evaluate its clinical practical value.Methods:A nursing quality evaluation index system for indwelling catheter in postoperative urology patients was developed through literature review and the Delphi method,and applied in clinical practice.Results:The expert agreement coefficients for the two rounds of expert consultation were 100%,with opinion proposal rates of 92.41%and 21.58%,respectively.The expert judgment coefficients for the two rounds of expert consultations were 0.860 and 0.847,with familiarity coefficients of 0.736 and 0.754,resulting in expert authority coefficients of 0.798 and 0.800,respectively.The Kendall correlation coefficients for the two rounds of expert consultations were 0.065 and 0.186,respectively.The final postoperative urinary catheter care quality evaluation index system for urology patients comprises 3 primary indicators,7 secondary indicators,and 39 tertiary indicators.Application results showed that after implementing the postoperative indwelling urinary catheter nursing quality evaluation index system,the incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infections and unplanned catheter removal in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group,while nursing satisfaction and catheter nursing management quality were higher than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:The postoperative indwelling urinary catheter care quality evaluation index system established in this study could effectively reduce the incidence of adverse events during catheterization,improve patient satisfaction,and promote continuous improvement in nursing quality.
