Summary of the best evidence for oral care in infants with endotracheal intubation

Abstract:Objective:To comprehensively search and summarize the best evidence for oral care in infants with endotracheal intubation.Methods:A systematic search was conducted in databases including UpToDate,NICE,GIN,MedLive,Cochrane Library,PubMed,CNKI,and WanFang Data for literature on oral care in infants with endotracheal intubation.The search period ranged from the inception of each database to March 31,2024.The types of evidence included clinical practice guidelines,evidence summaries,expert consensus,systematic reviews,and Meta-analyses.The quality of the included literature was evaluated,and relevant evidence was extracted.Results:A total of 10 articles were included,comprising 2 guidelines,7 systematic reviews/Meta-analyses,and 1 evidence summary.The best evidence for oral care in infants with endotracheal intubation was ultimately formed,consisting of 13 pieces of evidence across 4 dimensions:oral hygiene assessment,timing of oral care,oral care solutions,and oral care methods.Conclusion:The best evidence for oral care in infants with endotracheal intubation could provide healthcare professionals with an evidence-based foundation for clinical practice.
