Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of music therapy combined with colostrum oral application on the growth and development of preterm infants with gestational age ≤34 weeks, and to provide scientific basis for the nursing care and early intervention of preterm infants. Methods: A total of 90 preterm infants admitted to our hospital's neonatal intensive care unit from December 2023 to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into three groups: the control group, observation group 1, and observation group 2, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing care, while observation group 1 received colostrum oral application on the basis of the control group. Observation group 2 received music therapy in addition to the interventions of the control group and observation group 1. The intervention lasted for 14 days. The changes in growth and development indicators (length, weight, and head circumference) and vital signs indicators (heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation) were compared among the three groups. Results: After 7 days and 14 days of intervention, there were statistically significant differences in the increase of length and head circumference among the three groups (P < 0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in weight among the three groups (P > 0.05). After 7 days of intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in heart rate among the three groups (P > 0.05). After 7 days of intervention, there were statistically significant differences in respiratory rate and oxygen saturation among the three groups (P < 0.001). After 14 days of intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in respiratory rate and oxygen saturation among the three groups (P = 0.05). Conclusion: Music therapy combined with colostrum oral application can promote the growth and development of preterm infants with gestational age ≤34 weeks.
