Abstract:Objective:To systematically evaluate the effectiveness of reusable surgical gowns(RSG)and disposable surgical gowns(DSG).Methods:RCTs comparing the effects of DSG and RSG were retrieved from UpToDate,Yimaitong,CBM,VIP,WanFang Data,CNKI,PubMed,Web of Science, and Cochrane Library,The retrieval deadline was from the establishment of the database to July 25,2024.RevMan 5.3 software was used for Meta-analysis.Results:A total of 15 articles were included. The Meta-analysis results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of bacterial culture positivity(RR=0.44,95%CI 0.15-1.28,P=0.13)and postoperative infection(RR=0.76,95%CI 0.27-2.08,P=0.59)between DSG and RSG.Compared with the control group, the observation group can reduce the positive rates of bacterial culture in the left hand(RR=0.40,95%CI 0.20-0.78,P=0.008),right hand(RR=0.40,95%CI 0.20-0.78,P=0.008),chest(RR=0.40,95%CI 0.23-0.69,P=0.001),right waist(RR=0.28,95%CI 0.13-0.57,P=0.000 5),and left waist(RR=0.25,95%CI 0.12-0.54,P=0.000 5).Conclusions:Existing evidence suggests that there is not much difference in the bacterial culture positivity rate and postoperative infection rate between DSG and RSG during surgery. However,DSG has an advantage in bacterial culture positivity rate in various parts of the gown.It is recommended that medical institutions should choose appropriate types of surgical gowns based on actual situations and needs. When selecting materials for surgical gowns, the purpose of wearing and surgical conditions should be considered, and further large-scale sample verification is needed in the future.
