The incidence and influencing factors of fear of recurrence in stroke patients:a Meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective:To systematically evaluate the incidence and influencing factors of fear of recurrence in stroke patients.Methods:Published studies on the incidence and influencing factors of fear of recurrence in stroke patients were retrieved from CNKI,CBM,VIP,WanFang Data,PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,EMbase,and assisted with manual retrieval.The retrieval time limit was from the establishment of the database to June 30,2023.Two evaluators independently screened literature,extracted data,and conducted quality evaluations.Stata 16.0 and Review Manager 5.3 software were used for Meta-analysis of literature that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results:A total of 14 articles were included,involving 5 258 patients and 36 influencing factors.The Meta-analysis results showed that the incidence of fear of recurrence in stroke patients was 48.2%(95%CI 35.0%-61.5%,P<0.000 1).That age,gender,perceived disease risk,average monthly household income,self-care ability,family care,social support,disease duration,Modified Rankin Scale score,family history,cohabitation status,and anxiety are influencing factors for the fear of recurrence in stroke patients.Conclusions:Existing evidence suggests that stroke patients generally have a fear of recurrence,and age,gender,average monthly family income,self-care ability,Modified Rankin Scale score,disease duration,family history,cohabitation status,perceived disease risk,anxiety,family care,and social support are influencing factors for the occurrence of recurrence fear.Clinical medical staff should identify patients with high recurrence fear in the early stage,help them establish a good family and social support system,and reduce the level of recurrence fear in stroke patients.
