Application of patient navigation in cancer screening:a scoping review

Abstract:Objective:To conduct a scoping review of the application of patient navigation in cancer screening.Methods:According to the scoping review guidelines,relevant studies were systematically retrieved from CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,SinoMed,PubMed,Web of Science,EMbase,and Cochrane Library.The search time limit was from the establishment of the database to September 5,2024,and the included literature was summarized and analyzed.Results:A total of 14 articles were included.Patient navigation is mainly used for colorectal cancer,breast cancer,lung cancer,and cervical cancer screening.Evaluation indicators include cancer screening rate,screening compliance,etc.Conclusions:Cancer screening based on patient navigation can improve cancer screening rates and screening compliance.In the future,standardized navigator training programs and intervention programs can be developed to build more scientific and effective structured patient navigation intervention programs based on different cancer types and different screening barriers.
