Interpretation of"the Neonatal Perioperative Care Guidelines"by the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Society

Abstract:This article interprets"the Neonatal Perioperative Care Guidelines",which were first released by the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(ERAS)Association on July 31,2024.The guidelines provided 16 recommendations for the perioperative period of all neonates undergoing major non-cardiac surgery,covering 11 aspects,including team communication,preoperative fasting,temperature regulation,antibiotic(ERAS)prophylaxis,surgical site skin preparation,perioperative ventilation,fluid management,perioperative blood glucose control,transfusion threshold,enteral feeding,and parental hands-on care.It aimed to provide a reference for implementing enhanced recovery nursing practice for neonates in the perioperative period of neonatal intensive care units in China,and to provide direction for future related research.
