Concept analysis of nursing crisis leadership

Abstract:Objective:To clarify the definition,attributes,cases,antecedents,consequences,and evaluation tools of the concept of nursing crisis leadership,and to clarify the conceptual connotation of nursing crisis leadership.Methods:Literature on nursing crisis leadership was systematically retrieved from PubMed,Web of Science,EMbase,Cochrane Library,CBM,CNKI,WanFang Data,and VIP.The literature analysis was conducted using the classic concept analysis method developed by Walker and Avant.Results:A total of 67 articles were included,and the defining attributes of nursing crisis leadership were summarized as adaptability,decision-making ability,effective communication,trust and trust-winning,cooperation,empathy,learning and education ability,and predictive ability.The antecedents were demographic factors,education and training,and social empowerment.The consequences were positive impacts on nurses,patients,organizations,the work environment,and nursing quality.The evaluation tools included Crisis Leadership Questionnaire,the Crisis Leader Efficacy in Assessing and Deciding Scale,the Head Nurse Multivariate Leadership Behavior Scale,and Authentic Nursing Leadership Questionnaire.Conclusions:The research on nursing crisis leadership in China is in its infancy and lacks relevant evaluation tools.In the future,nursing research and clinical practice should be conducted with leadership in mind during crises.
