Summary of the best evidence for anorectal manometry in children

Abstract:Objective:To summarize the best evidence of anorectal manometry in children at home and abroad.Methods:Relevant databases and websites domestically and internationally were systematically searched on anorectal manometry in children,including guidelines,systematic reviews,best practices,evidence summaries,expert consensus,etc.The retrieval time limit was from the establishment of the database to July 15,2024.Two researchers independently completed the methodological quality evaluation of the literature and the extraction and summary of evidence.Results:A total of 8 articles were included,including 3 expert consensuses,4 systematic reviews,and 1 clinical decision.A total of 37 pieces of evidence were summarized from 5 aspects:indications,personnel training,preparation before operation(informed consent and communication,bowel preparation,patient cooperation),pressure measurement implementation(privacy protection,digital rectal examination positioning,game assistance,operation requirements and precautions),and reporting standards.Conclusion:This study summarizes the best evidence for the implementation of anorectal manometry in children.Medical staff should select and apply evidence according to clinical situations to improve success rates,efficiency,and family satisfaction.Combined with the pressure measurement results for correlation analysis,to further guide clinical diagnosis and treatment and nursing work.
