Concept analysis of cognitive frailty in older adults

Abstract:Objective:To clarify the definition and connotation of cognitive frailty in older adults.Methods:We systematically searched literature related to cognitive frailty in the elderly from the CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,SinoMed,Web of Science,PubMed,EMbase,Cochrane Library,and ScienceDirect.The retrieval time limit was from the establishment of the database to June 2024.Literature was screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria,and Rodgers evolutionary conceptual analysis was used for analysis.Results:A total of 65 articles were included,comprising 26 Chinese articles and 39 English articles.The conceptual attributes were summarized as insufficient cognitive reserve,recoverability of cognitive function,and social cognitive isolation.The antecedents were physical unfavorable factors,body disease factors,negative psychological factors,and social deficiency factors.The consequences were poor health susceptibility,decreased social and mental health,and decreased quality of life.Conclusion:Through the analysis of the concept of cognitive frailty in older adults,we again a clearer understanding of cognitive frailty,providing reference for future research on cognitive frailty in older adults.
