Abstract:Objective: To deeply understand the current status of awareness of time bank mutual elderly care among low-age elderly in the community, and to provide a reference basis for improving their participation in time bank mutual elderly care. Methods: A descriptive qualitative research method was used. Purposive sampling was adopted, and 16 low-age elderly people aged 60-69 from a community in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, were selected as interview subjects between November and December 2024. Semi-structured interviews were conducted. The data were organized and themes were extracted using directed content analysis. Results: Three main themes were identified: low awareness (unclear basic concepts, unclear operating mechanisms), inconsistent acceptance (positive attitude, cautious attitude, negative attitude), and expectations and suggestions (expecting sustained and stable development, needing increased government support). Seven sub-themes were also extracted. Conclusion: The awareness of time bank mutual elderly care among low-age elderly is relatively low. It is necessary to increase government support, promote time bank mutual elderly care through multiple dimensions and comprehensively, and improve public awareness and acceptance to promote the healthy and sustainable development of time bank mutual elderly care.
