Abstract:Objective: To explore the quality of life of patients after gastric cancer surgery and its influencing factors, and to understand the path relationship between social support, coping style, self-care ability, and quality of life. Methods: A survey was conducted on 204 gastric cancer patients after surgery in three tertiary general hospitals in Nanchang City using the General Information Questionnaire, Post-Gastrectomy Syndrome Assessment Scale, Chinese Version of Medical Social Support Scale, Coping Style Questionnaire, Self-Care Ability Scale, and Cancer Patient Quality of Life Scale. Results: The total score of quality of life for patients after gastric cancer surgery was (971.44±215.13). It was positively correlated with social support, positive coping, and self-care ability, and negatively correlated with physical symptoms and negative coping styles. Linear regression analysis showed that postoperative time, physical symptoms, positive coping, and negative coping were influencing factors of quality of life after gastric cancer surgery. Path analysis found that social support could directly affect quality of life, and also indirectly influence it through positive coping and self-care ability. It could also influence quality of life through a chain effect of positive coping and self-care ability. The total indirect effect was 0.089, accounting for 36.48% of the total effect. Conclusion: There are many factors affecting the quality of life of patients after gastric cancer surgery. By improving social support, positive coping, and self-care ability, the quality of life can be improved under different stress sources.
