Summary of the best evidence for the prevention of venous thromboembolism during the perioperative period of hip and knee arthroplasty

Abstract:Objective:To retrieve,evaluate and summarize the best evidence for the preventive measures of venous thromboembolism,VTE in patients undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty during the perioperative period,and to provide reference for clinical practice.Methods:Articles on the prevention of VTE during the perioperative period of hip and knee arthroplasty were retrieved from UpToDate、BMJ Best Practice、GIN、NICE、ACCP、AAOS、ASH、ESA、the Cochrane Library、PubMed、Web of Science、EMbase、CBM、CNKI、VIP、WanFang Database,etc.The search period was from the establishment of the database to March 22,2023.The quality of the guidelines was independently evaluated by 4 researchers,and the quality of the expert consensus was independently evaluated by 2 researchers.Evidence was extracted and the best evidence was integrated.Results:A total of 14 articles were included,including 7 guidelines and 7 expert consensations.Twenty-two best pieces of evidence were summarized from six aspects:risk assessment and screening,risk factors,basic prevention,mechanical prevention,drug prevention,and health education.Conclusions:The best evidence summarized in this study can provide reference for medical staff to formulate VTE prevention plans for patients undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty during the perioperative period,standardize clinical VTE prevention measures,and thereby reduce the incidence of VTE in patients undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty during the perioperative period.
