Abstract:Objective:To systematically evaluate the effect of preventive negative pressure wound therapy in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Methods:Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on the effect of preventive negative pressure wound therapy and standard dressings in patients undergoing abdominal surgery were retrieved from PubMed,Web of Science,EMbase, the Cochrane Library,CINAHL,CNKI,WanFang Database,CBM,Clinical Trials, and Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(ChiCTR)from the establishment of databases to May 31,2024.The Cochrane risk-of-bias tool was used to evaluate the quality of the literature, and RevMan 5.3 software was used for statistical analysis. Results:A total of 22 articles were included, involving 3 075 patients.Compared with standard dressing, preventive negative pressure wound therapy can reduce the incidence of surgical site infection(OR=0.56,95%CI 0.46-0.69,P<0.001)and seroma(OR=0.45,95%CI 0.29-0.69,P<0.001)in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. However, there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of incision dehiscence, hematoma, and length of stay between the two groups of patients. Conclusions:Existing evidence showes that preventive negative pressure wound therapy could reduce the incidence of surgical site infection in patients undergoing abdominal surgery.
