Prevention and management of delayed nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy:a summary of the best evidence

Abstract:Objective:To systematically retrieve and organize the summary of evidence on the prevention and management of delayed nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy.Methods:Related articles on the prevention and management of delayed nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy were retrieved systematically from major databases in China and abroad.The article types included clinical decision-making,guidelines,expert consensus,systematic reviews,and evidence summaries.The search period was from the establishment of the database to April 30,2024.Two graduate students performed quality evaluation,evidence content extraction,and integration back-to-back.Results:A total of 17 articles were included,including 3 clinical decision-making articles,2 guidelines,5 expert consensus articles,3 evidence summaries,and 4 systematic reviews.A total of 22 pieces of evidence were summarized from 7 aspects:organizational management,risk screening,symptom assessment,drug intervention,non-drug intervention,health education,and continuity management.Conclusions:A total of 22 pieces of evidence on the prevention and management of delayed nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy are summarized.It is recommended that clinical medical staff should explore the optimal management plan suitable for localization when conducting clinical transformation,combining professional judgment,clinical situation,and patients'wishes.
