Current situation and influencing factors of nursing culture self-confidence of nursing undergraduates

Abstract：Objective: To investigate and analyze the current status and influencing factors of nursing cultural confidence among undergraduate nursing students, and to propose strategies to enhance their nursing cultural confidence, in order to promote the inheritance and development of nursing culture. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to select 300 undergraduate nursing students from six universities in Guangdong Province in July 2022. A cross-sectional survey was conducted using the Nursing Cultural Confidence Scale, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS AU software. Results: The nursing cultural confidence score of the 300 undergraduate nursing students was (38.16±5.39), with the lowest score rate in the emotional dimension (72.47%), followed by the cognitive dimension (76.76%) and the behavioral dimension (81.00%). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the form of nursing cultural education, understanding, preference, and support had a positive impact on the nursing cultural confidence of undergraduate nursing students (P<0.05), explaining 33.4% of the variation in nursing cultural confidence. Path analysis results showed that the more diversified the nursing cultural education forms that undergraduate nursing students participated in, and the higher their preference for nursing cultural education, the higher their support for it. The higher the support and understanding of nursing cultural education, the higher the level of nursing cultural confidence. Conclusion: The nursing cultural confidence of undergraduate nursing students is at a moderate to high level, but there is still room for improvement. The form of nursing cultural education, as well as the preference, understanding, and support of undergraduate nursing students toward nursing cultural education, are influencing factors of their nursing cultural confidence. Nursing education administrators should actively carry out multi-form nursing cultural education combining theory, clubs, and clinical practice, create a good learning environment, and promote students' preference, understanding, and support for nursing cultural education to enhance their nursing cultural confidence.
