Abstract:Objective: To explore the current status of cognitive function management behaviors among community-dwelling older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and their influencing factors. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to select 467 community-dwelling older adults aged ≥60 years with MCI from 10 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province between July 2023 and March 2024. Their cognitive function management behaviors were assessed, and sociodemographic and health-related data were collected. Results: Among the four recommended cognitive function management behaviors, community-dwelling older adults with MCI adopted 1.37 on average. Specifically, 239 cases (51.2%) adopted physical exercise behavior, 156 cases (33.4%) adopted intervention for reversible risk factors, 144 cases (30.8%) adopted cognitive training, and 103 cases (22.1%) adopted monitoring of cognitive status. Linear regression analysis showed that higher educational level, urban employee basic medical insurance, non-smoking, and higher age were influencing factors of cognitive function management behaviors. Conclusion: The current status of cognitive function management among community-dwelling older adults with MCI is poor. Their cognitive function management behaviors are influenced by factors such as age, educational level, medical payment methods, unhealthy behaviors (such as smoking), and family history of cognitive impairment. It is urgently necessary to develop supportive strategies to promote cognitive function management among community-dwelling older adults with MCI, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, those with lower educational levels, and rural older adults with unhealthy behaviors.
