Prevention and management of metabolic complications after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer:a summary of the best evidence

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate and summarize the relevant evidence for the prevention and management of metabolic complications after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer,and to provide an evidence-based basis for clinical medical staff to carry out the prevention and management of metabolic complications after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer.Methods:Based on the"6S"model,the literature on the prevention and management of metabolic complications after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer was systematically retrieved from relevant guideline websites and databases in China and abroad from January 1,2014 to April 1,2024.The researchers independently evaluated the quality of the included literature and classified and summarized the extracted evidence by subject.Results:A total of 12 articles were included,including 5 expert consensus,3 guidelines,1 clinical decision,and 3 systematic reviews.A total of 24 pieces of evidence were extracted,including three aspects:bone metabolism,cardiac metabolism,and glucose and lipid metabolism.Conclusions:The best evidence for the prevention and management of metabolic complications after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer concluded in this study are scientific and comprehensive,which have guiding significance for clinical nursing staff to standardize the prevention and management of metabolic complications of patients after androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer.
