Abstract:Objective: To understand the current status of the sense of life meaning and family resilience in patients with advanced cancer pain, and to analyze the correlation between them, providing a reference basis for helping patients with advanced cancer pain reflect on the meaning of life. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to select 208 patients with advanced cancer pain who were treated at a tertiary A-class cancer specialty hospital in Fujian Province from April 2023 to April 2024 as the study subjects. They were surveyed using a general information questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Sense of Life Meaning Scale, and the Chinese simplified version of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale. Results: The score for the sense of life meaning of the 208 patients with advanced cancer pain was (35.63±10.93) points, and the score for family resilience was (71.56±21.84) points; family resilience was positively correlated with the sense of life meaning (P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, educational level, cumulative use of opioid drugs within one week, average pain intensity score over the past 7 days, and family resilience were factors affecting the sense of life meaning in patients with advanced cancer pain (P<0.05). Conclusion: The level of sense of life meaning in patients with advanced cancer pain is relatively low, and the level of family resilience helps to enhance their sense of life meaning. It suggests that medical staff should help family members strengthen communication and actively provide medical support to help patients with advanced cancer pain improve their family resilience, thereby helping them deepen their understanding of life and explore the meaning of life.
