Summary of best evidence for nutritional management in cardiac rehabilitation for patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract:Objective:To retrieve,evaluate,and synthesize evidence related to nutritional management in cardiac rehabilitation for patients with coronary heart disease(CHD),and to provide a scientific and effective evidence-based foundation for developing nutritional management strategies for these patients.Methods:A comprehensive search was conducted in domestic and international databases,as well as on relevant professional society and guideline websites,for clinical decision-making documents,guidelines,expert consensus statements,evidence summaries,systematic reviews,or Meta-analyses related to nutritional management in CHD patients.The search period ranged from the establishment of the databases to December 20,2023.Totally two researchers independently assessed the quality of the included literature and extracted and summarized the content.Results:A total of 11 articles were included,comprising 1 clinical decision-making document,6 guidelines,and 4 expert consensus statements.The evidence was synthesized into 23 recommendations across five key areas,nutritional screening and assessment,nutritional prescription,nutritional intake,nutritional monitoring,and health education.Conclusions:This study summarizes the best available evidence on nutritional management in cardiac rehabilitation for CHD patients,which providing an evidence-based foundation for clinical practice.Cardiac rehabilitation teams should integrate this evidence with clinical realities and individual patient circumstances to guide CHD patients in scientifically and effectively improving their nutritional status and disease prognosis.
