Wrist-ankle acupuncture therapy to relieve postoperative pain of hemorrhoids:a Meta-analysis

Abstract:Objective:To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of wrist-ankle acupuncture therapy in relieving postoperative pain of hemorrhoids.Methods:Through computer retrieval of relevant literature on the application of wrist-ankle acupuncture to relieve postoperative pain after hemorrhoid surgery in databases such as PubMed,Web of Science,the Cochrane Library,EMbase,CBM,CNKI,WanFang Database,and VIP.The retrieval time limit was from the establishment of the database to July 2024,2 researchers independently conduct literature screening and data collection,as well as risk of bias evaluation.Meta-analysis is performed using RevMan 5.3 software.Results:A total of 19 articles were included in this study,all of which were in Chinese.The results of the Meta-analysis indicated that,compared with other treatment methods,wrist-ankle acupuncture could increase the total effective rate of patients with postoperative pain(OR=0.26,95%CI 0.19-0.37,P<0.000 01),reduce the postoperative pain score(MD=-0.88,95%CI-1.41--0.34,P<0.001),improve patient satisfaction(OR=0.16,95%CI 0.08-0.31,P<0.000 01).Conclusion:The application of wrist-ankle acupuncture after hemorrhoid surgery can relieve postoperative pain,improve the total effective rate and patient satisfaction,and enhance the quality of life of patients.
